Zionsville board authorizes advertising for roughly $15 million in school construction projects

The Zionsville Community Schools Board on Nov. 10 authorized the district to advertise bids for a package of facilities projects identified in the 2024 deliberative facilities study, with a preliminary construction‑cost estimate of roughly $15 million to be funded from the 2025 bond issuance.
Assistant Superintendent of Operations Matt Doublestein presented the project list, which includes fire alarm and public‑address headend replacements at multiple elementary schools; renovation of the 1977 ZCHS auditorium and PAC lighting conversion; stage lighting and auditorium repairs at ZMS and ZWMS; asphalt, curb, and sidewalk replacement; updates to Eagle Elementary main entry and interior columns; renovation of the ZWMS track; ZCHS corridor ceiling replacement and painting; and stadium and aquatics sound‑system renovations. The board authorized the leadership team and Skillman Corporation to advertise for bids, receive and tabulate responses, and present results at a future public meeting.
Separately, the board accepted a rebid and awarded the interior painting contract for the ZCHS locker room addition to Bill Lawrence at $223,300, with costs to be paid from 2025 financing. That rebid followed an earlier advertising effort that produced insufficient responses.
The board approved the advertising authorization and the painting award by unanimous votes. Next steps include bid advertisement, tabulation, and return of recommended contract awards to the board for public consideration.
