Board approves contractors for multi-site renovation projects, targets summer 2026 and 2027 completions

The Zionsville Community Schools Board of Trustees voted unanimously to accept recommended construction bids for a slate of renovation projects across district campuses and to authorize district leadership and project manager Skillman Corporation to execute contracts.
Assistant Superintendent of Operations Matt Doublestein presented recommended contractors for projects identified in the 2024 deliberative facilities study, including the ZCHS 1977 auditorium renovation, stage lighting and flooring updates at ZMS and ZWMS, track and parking replacements at ZWMS, parking and sidewalk work at BME and SGE, EIFS renovation at Eagle Elementary, fire alarm and PA system upgrades at multiple schools, temperature control renovations, and stadium and aquatics sound-system updates.
The board discussed expected completion timelines, how Skillman breaks projects into categories when multiple contractors are involved, and the need to align project materials across sites. District staff said competitive market conditions produced pricing that allowed the work to proceed within the bond-identified budget. Jennifer Valentine moved to accept the bids and authorize execution of contracts as presented; Dr. Christy Wessel-Powell seconded. The motion passed 5–0.
If approved contracts proceed on schedule, most projects will be completed by July/August 2026, while the ZCHS auditorium work is scheduled for completion in June/July 2027.
