Administrators report on attendance, grants and programs; board approves instructional improvement plans

District administrators updated the board on school environment efforts and student programs and the board approved instructional improvement plans on Oct. 8, 2024.

During the monthly environment report, Danielle Galbraith, Karise Kabage and Kristina Manning presented attendance and discipline data and described rewards and activities intended to support a positive school climate; they thanked sponsors for the Count Me In program and noted a second health grant focused on play and movement.

Mr. Hanson highlighted student Rotarian nominations, recognition of Jama Garcia with the Aiming High Award, ongoing bargaining, a Kahnmigo grant that will provide parent resources at conferences, and an expected Heartland Career Center roof completion in November. Mrs. Galbraith noted she and Megan Hoover were recognized at the State House for iRead and described plans to present at an elevating-education conference.

The board approved the Return to Instruction Plan and both Elementary and Middle/High PL221 Improvement Plans by unanimous votes as recorded in the minutes. Administrators described parent-teacher conference schedules, PSAT and college/job-shadowing dates and upcoming principal meetings.
