North Miami School Board adopts 2025 budget, approves bond and capital plans

The board approved the 2025 budget in a motion made by Jeff Working and seconded by Amy Eckrote; the motion carried 6-0. Trustees also approved a final bond resolution for 2024 GO bond insurance and adopted a Declaration of Intent to Reimburse Expenditures related to those bond proceeds.
In a public hearing held on the proposed Additional Appropriation Resolution for 2024 bond proceeds, no members of the public spoke; the board closed the hearing and adopted the appropriation resolution by unanimous vote. Trustees also adopted 2025 capital plans and a bus replacement plan, approved several resolutions to allow budget-order and appropriation adjustments for 2024–25, and approved a resolution to transfer funds from the Education Fund to the Operations Fund for 2025.
The board authorized LED lighting upgrades across district facilities — including the Elementary Warrior Arena and Middle/High lobby, athletic corridors, locker rooms, entry areas, exterior lighting, classrooms and restrooms — with an out-of-pocket cost to the district of $97,353.39. The motion to approve the lighting updates was made by Stan Hudson and seconded by Mark Deardorff; it carried 6-0.
