Meridian Hills Town Council approved Ordinance 2024-09, the town’s 2025 Salary Ordinance, at its Nov. 4 meeting, voting 5-0 after a motion by Councilor Greg Jacoby and a second from Councilor Collen Field. The ordinance leaves most pay unchanged but raises the hourly rate for police officers by $1.
Councilors also approved the voucher packet totaling $281,610.63 on a motion by Councilor Cole Marr with a second from Councilor Zach Gordon, and they approved the bank reconciliation for the month ended Aug. 31, 2024 on a motion by Councilor Collen Field and a second by Councilor Greg Jacoby; both motions passed 5-0. Town Accountant Jim Higgins requested and the Council approved authorization for the Clerk‑Treasurer to make necessary appropriation adjustments, to be reported and ratified at the January 2025 meeting (motion by Councilor Zach Gordon, second by Councilor Greg Jacoby; approved 5-0).
Council President Walter Freihofer presented the financial items and the ordinance during the Clerk‑Treasurer’s report. The salary change is limited to the hourly rate for police officers; the ordinance notes other pay amounts remain unchanged from 2024. The Council’s unanimous votes finalized these routine fiscal and personnel items.
The Council did not discuss additional salary changes or the full budget schedule at length; Jim Higgins said any appropriation modifications would be brought forward for review in January 2025.
