Meridian Hills engineers report CCMG win, ongoing pavement repairs and sidewalk right-of-way work

Town engineers reported a CCMG award with construction planned for spring 2025, an approved Indy NIP application, an outstanding raised crosswalk repair on 75th Street and plans to pursue sign replacements and reflective striping on stop posts.
Town Engineer William (listed in attendance as Willie) Hall updated the Meridian Hills Town Council on multiple transportation and signage items at the Sept. 9 meeting.
Hall said an award for CCMG project 2024-01 has been received and INDOT CCMG funds have been requested; construction is planned for spring 2025. A second CCMG submission (2024-02) has been made and notifications are expected by November 2024. Hall also reported that an Indy NIP application has been approved with notifications anticipated by November.
On local work, Hall said contractor Howard completed contracted pavement maintenance but has not finished repairing a raised concrete crosswalk on 75th Street that was damaged during construction; the town is withholding final payment until the repair is completed and CRE will coordinate close-out documents with INDOT. A Globe Pavement Patch invoice is forthcoming.
Councilor Greg Jacoby is coordinating with the town attorney to approach new residents about right-of-way needs on 75th Street for a planned sidewalk on the south side of Pennsylvania Street. The engineer also briefed the council on a planned Street ID Replacement Program and recommended soliciting quotes from signage contractors; CRE will prepare a package for bidders. Council directed installation of reflective strips on stop sign posts (Morphey to be issued direction to install) and discussed options for green blade signs and other replacements.
The council did not take final action on construction contracts at the Sept. 9 meeting; staff will return with procurement exhibits and costs for council consideration.
