Granite Visiting Nurses asks Henniker for $15,000 in 2026 municipal support

At the opening of public comment, Andy Morris, director of communications for the Granite Visiting Nurses Association, asked the Henniker Select Board for a $15,000 appropriation for 2026 to support home-health, hospice and community wellness services.
Morris said Granite VNA has operated for 126 years and, in the last completed fiscal year, served 139 community members with roughly 2,800 home-health and hospice visits, plus 179 residents who attended wellness programs. He described nonreimbursable services such as foot-care clinics, aging-well programs and postpartum home visits for new mothers and said the organization provides more than $2 million in charitable and subsidized care annually.
"We respectfully request $15,000, but we gratefully appreciate any support that you're able to give," Morris said, noting the agency's service area spans about 72 New Hampshire communities and that federal reimbursement pressures could increase reliance on local contributions.
Board members asked clarifying questions about media and outreach, the number of communities served in New Hampshire, and whether town contributions are population-based; Morris said he would get precise finance and contribution-per-town numbers from the agency's finance department.
What's next: this was a public-comment funding request; the board did not take action during the meeting. Staff indicated they would follow up to provide the requested budget detail for board consideration during the 2026 appropriation process.
