Selectmen authorize River Road design and permitting to meet Army Corps rules

Highway Superintendent Leo told the board the work will run from Route 114 to the town line and will cover paved side streets such as Longview Drive and Plumber Hill. He said the Army Corps requires evidence of existing and proposed elevations, limited culvert replacements, and documentation to avoid encroaching on federal flood control areas. Leo proposed hiring Mike McNally of KV Partners to prepare the design and permitting documents and to oversee topographical surveys and culvert assessments.
A board member moved that the town administrator execute the River Road design task order and authorize the highway superintendent to proceed. The motion was seconded and approved by the board.
The authorization permits staff to advance permitting and to sign contracts so design work can proceed this year; Leo said construction is anticipated in the following construction season pending permitting. The board did not set a construction start date and noted additional permitting conditions (wetlands review, Army Corps sign‑offs) may affect the schedule.
