Greentown council extends remediation deadline for 119–121 N. Meridian after attorneys report slow progress

Attorney T.J. Rethlake told the Greentown Town Council on Jan. 21 that the property at 119–121 North Meridian Street shows visible progress but is not meeting the deadlines in its remediation schedule. The council identified outstanding items — unsecured window openings, deterioration in east-side brick masonry and the condition of a west-side garage — and agreed to extend the remediation deadline by four weeks to Feb. 18, to be reviewed at the council's February meeting.

The council framed the extension as a limited additional period for the property owner or contractor to complete specified repairs rather than as a change to the substance of the remediation requirements. Town attorney Mr. Peelle separately reported the town had emailed Danny Barton's attorney about a nuisance-abatement order at 624 West Payton Street and is awaiting a response; Mr. Peelle said he will provide an update at the next council meeting.
