Selectboard sets summer schedule, opens awards nominations and schedules budget vote
Summary
The board approved meeting once monthly in July and August, asked for nominations for the Spirit of America and Citizen of the Year awards, and the clerk set June 23 as the budget vote date under bifurcated meeting timing; a resident requested written confirmation of compliance with Title 30-A.
During New Business the Selectboard agreed to modify its summer calendar and to publicize several civic items.
Selectman Erin Shanahan proposed meeting only once a month in July and August and suggested the meetings be held the first Tuesday of each month. Norman Bamford seconded the motion and it passed 3–0.
The board also asked that nominations for the Spirit of America Award and Citizen of the Year be posted on the town website and Facebook page, and requested suggestions for the Sullivan Daze parade grand marshal.
Town Clerk Yvette Grindle advised that, because the June 10 election leaves a 14-day maximum under bifurcated town meeting guidelines, the meeting to vote on the budget must be held on June 23. Resident John Keenan expressed displeasure with bifurcated town meetings and asked for documentation; the clerk agreed to provide it in writing.
