Ponderosa Villa reports fewer state-survey deficiencies, says finances improved

Char Zander, administrator of Ponderosa Villa, delivered the facility’s annual report to the Crawford City Council on Jan. 27 and described measurable improvements in regulatory findings and recent financial performance.
Zander said the facility reduced state-survey deficiencies from 12 the prior year to 6 this year and reported no tags related to resident care. She reported a current census of 27 residents (average daily census 27) and that four residents are Medicare payers. Financially, Zander said Ponderosa Villa’s revenue improved from roughly $7,000 in October to $54,000 in December, a change she said has positively affected the facility's stability.
Councilmembers accepted the report; no formal action was required beyond receiving the update.
What remains open: Zander presented the statistics and said the positive indicators reflected operational improvements; council did not request other immediate actions during the meeting.
