Tusayan shows 7 Mile Lodge demolition progress, advances trail work and signage coordination

Town staff updated the Tusayan Town Council on Feb. 11 about progress clearing the 7 Mile Lodge site, ongoing trail construction and coordination with the U.S. Forest Service on signage.
Town Manager Hendrix displayed photos indicating the 7 Mile Lodge had been demolished and that contractors would finish material removal and begin earthwork. The council was informed that a sign announcing project principals had been installed on the site consistent with the town's sign ordinance but that a formal sign permit still must be obtained.
On trails, Hendrix showed an updated map and photographs of completed, publicly accessible trail segments and reported the town had walked the routes to confirm access from the Campground into Town. Council Member Andrew Aldaz raised safety concerns because hunting occurs in nearby areas and requested Forest Service warning signs to alert trail users; the council supported staff pursuing signage coordination and moving forward with a second grant application to finish construction.
Council members indicated broad support to continue work on both trails and town-owned parcel development and to proceed with the next grant submittal.
