Tusayan launches public engagement for 2034 General Plan; sports-complex final report due in September

Councilors reported on General Plan outreach and a recent community meeting; staff will distribute a questionnaire and the Sports Complex Master Plan final report will be presented to council on Sept. 10 with a working-group meeting scheduled the last week of August.
Council members updated the public on two planning efforts on Aug. 13: the 2034 General Plan and the Sports Complex Master Plan.
Town Manager Hendrix and Council Member Andrew Aldaz said a recent community awareness meeting drew many questions and that the planning consultant will continue outreach. Aldaz recommended monthly meetings and targeted planner outreach to stakeholders familiar with the draft maps so mapping errors can be corrected. Hendrix said a questionnaire and handout will be distributed to the community distribution list and posted on the town website.
On the Sports Complex Master Plan, Hendrix reported the Planning Team intends to present the final report at the Sept. 10 council meeting and at the school on Sept. 11. A working‑group meeting is planned for the week of Aug. 26.
No formal council action was taken; both items remain in the public‑engagement and review stage.
