Tusayan expands Healthy Living check-out and resumes after‑school program; health nurse sets office hours

The Town will expand its Healthy Living Library check-out program to about 300 packages, resumed after‑school programming in partnership with Grand Canyon Schools and announced Community Health Nurse office hours beginning Sept. 26.
Town Manager Hendrix told the council that last year’s pilot replacement for an annual turkey distribution—the Healthy Living Library check-out program—served about 230 complete packages and the Council directed staff to increase the number to roughly 300 this year.
Hendrix said the town has resumed the after-school program in partnership with Grand Canyon Schools, welcoming walk-ins and noting the program will appear at the Fall Community Gathering on Oct. 10. Grand Canyon Unified School District Superintendent Matt Yost said the district appreciates continued collaboration because it benefits the school and community.
The Town also announced that the Community Health Nurse will hold recurring office hours at Town Hall starting Sept. 26 at 1:00 p.m., with an additional lobby session scheduled on Oct. 3. Staff will update and distribute a flyer with dates and are preparing a Good Samaritan informational flyer to clarify applicable laws.
