Clerk-Treasurer Janet Alexander told the Wingate Town Council on Nov. 12 that the town completed its lead and copper inventory and determined a customer notification must be mailed to eight residences no later than Friday, Nov. 15, 2024.
Janet said UMAC representative Troy Elless provided a sample notice. Councilor Curt Hadley volunteered to draft a compliant, canned notification and Alexander said she will mail the notices by the deadline. The minutes list the eight addresses identified as having galvanized water pipes that triggered the notification requirement.
The council did not vote on this item; the actions are ministerial steps to meet state and federal lead-and-copper public-notification requirements. The clerk’s office is responsible for mailing the notices and maintaining records of the notices sent.
