Wingate Council adopts Fair Housing and Drug-Free Workplace ordinances; OKs online banking resolution

The Wingate Town Council on July 9 adopted two ordinances intended to formalize local policy and approved a resolution authorizing online banking and electronic funds transfers.
Janet Alexander, speaking for the Clerk Treasurer's Office, introduced Ordinance No. 2024-01, the Town of Wingate Fair Housing ordinance, and Ordinance No. 2024-02, the Town of Wingate Drug-Free Workplace ordinance. The council agreed to consider both measures on the day they were introduced. Curt Hadley moved to adopt the Fair Housing ordinance; Andrew Lorenz seconded the motion and it carried. Andrew Lorenz moved to adopt the Drug-Free Workplace ordinance; Kyle Campbell seconded and that motion also carried.
Alexander then presented Resolution 2024-7-9, which would authorize the town to use online banking and electronic funds transfers. She told the council that since the COVID-19 pandemic many invoices have been paid electronically and that Fountain Trust Bank has encouraged online banking; the resolution would also allow the town to download bank statements and check balances online. Andrew Lorenz moved to approve the resolution, Kyle Campbell seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
