Selectboard adopts committee rules, elects Bamford chair and approves one‑day liquor license

The Sullivan Selectboard on July 1, 2025, approved several administrative and routine items, including a committee‑structure update, the election of Norman Bamford as chair, and a one‑day liquor license for a local inn.
Town Manager Ray Weintraub urged the board to adopt updates to committee rules to ensure continuity if committee leadership changes and to set attendance and absentee policies. Norman Bamford moved to adopt the committee‑structure update, effective July 1, 2025; Erin Shanahan seconded and the motion passed 3–0.
Later in the meeting Bamford nominated himself for Selectboard chair; Erin Shanahan seconded the nomination and the board voted unanimously to elect Bamford chair.
Weintraub reported that the town audit for the previous fiscal year had begun and that the town would use Taunton Bay Soap Co. to ship water samples via FedEx to save time and expense. He said staff are also reviewing long‑standing delinquent real‑estate taxes.
The board approved a one‑day liquor license for Crocker House Inn at 18 Miramar Ave. (motion by Norman Bamford; seconded by Erin Shanahan; passed 3–0). Gregory Ring raised a reservation about one item on the Treasurer’s Warrant and moved to approve the warrant except for the cemetery mowing payment; the motion passed 3–0.
Erin Shanahan read a letter announcing her resignation effective Sept. 1, 2025. The board then moved into executive session under 1 MRSA § 405(6)(F) to discuss confidential records, reconvened and reported it had approved an abatement in executive session. The meeting adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
The Town Manager said he would post a web poll and promote nominations for Citizen of the Year and the Spirit of America award on the town’s Facebook page to solicit community nominations.
