Non‑FMLA leave: The board approved a revision to policy 5.300 (non‑FMLA leave) to reflect a state law change effective July 1. Staff explained the change reallocates personal leave (for example, establishing two personal leave days per semester rather than two total) without reducing total leave days; unused personal days still convert to sick leave. Because the law is effective July 1, the board waived a second reading so the policy will reflect the new distribution immediately.
Board members asked for clarification that the change does not alter retirement calculations and were told the leave still rolls into sick time for retirement credit.
