Wolcottville council approves routine minutes, claims and several motions; attorney authorized to investigate former clerk

The Wolcottville Town Council approved several routine and procedural motions at its Oct. 7 meeting, including minutes, payroll and claims, and formal steps related to town business.
Vice President Steven Cords moved to approve the Sept. 2, 2025 meeting minutes; Council Member Jeff Sorg seconded and the motion carried with all in favor. Jeff Sorg moved to approve the claims presented by Clerk-Treasurer Heidi Huff; Steven Cords seconded and the council voted unanimously to carry the motion. Clerk‑Treasurer Heidi Huff separately presented payroll claims for Aug. 31, Sept. 14 and Sept. 28, 2025; Jeff Sorg moved to approve the allowance docket for payroll, seconded by Steven Cords, and the motion passed.
Town Marshal Nathan Sprunger reviewed a Law Enforcement Officer Reimbursement Notice and Agreement for newly hired officers who will attend police academy training. Steven Cords moved to adopt the notice and agreement; Jeff Sorg seconded and the motion passed. Cords also moved to allow certain documents to be signed outside a meeting as needed; Sorg seconded and the council approved that motion as well.
Town Attorney Kurt Bachman reported a corrected survey from Jerry Raber’s Surveying Company related to a Race Street vacation filing. Jeff Sorg moved to amend paperwork for the vacation of Fourth Street; Steven Cords seconded. The council approved the amendment and later approved waiving the second reading on that matter.
In a separate motion, Steven Cords moved to authorize Town Attorney Kurt Bachman to pursue investigations regarding the previous Clerk‑Treasurer; Jeff Sorg seconded and the motion carried with all in favor.
The meeting adjourned at 6:34 p.m.
