District announces three new grants for homelessness support, robotics and camera upgrades

Lieberman said the district was awarded a $10,000 McKinney-Vento grant to support Communities in Schools, a $19,320 K–12 Robotics Competition grant (to buy equipment and cover competition fees, prepared with Misty Ingalls), and a $22,000 School Violence Prevention Program grant to replace camera equipment, hardware and software (with input from Ben Burris in technology, Matt Webb in maintenance and Craig Pennington, SRO).
Board member Dave Sturgis asked whether the grants were competitive; Lieberman confirmed they were. Board member Brent Fortman asked for a committee to set spending priorities for grants, and Lieberman explained that grant applications require the district to stipulate how funds will be allocated and that he consults with affected staff when applying.
No formal vote was required to receive the grant awards; the board received the update and accepted the reported receipts in routine financial reporting.
