Elk County honors Mary L. Lewis on retirement and celebrates Footlighters’ 70th anniversary

The Elk County Board of Commissioners recognized long-serving county employee Mary L. Lewis and the Footlighters community theater during Tuesday’s meeting.
President Judge Sean McMahon and other colleagues praised Lewis’s long service in the Domestic Relations section and presented her with a formal citation noting 28 years with the county and describing her as "the backbone of the office." "She has a tremendous amount of knowledge, a tremendous amount of experience that she is going to be missed," McMahon said.
The board also read a citation honoring the Footlighters of Elk County on their 70th anniversary, noting the group’s history of productions, scholarships for graduating seniors and community enrichment. Longtime troupe member Jack told the board he had been involved for 51 years and thanked the county for its support.
Commissioners invited domestic relations staff and Footlighters members to pose for photos following the presentations. No formal action items were associated with the recognitions.
