Commission on Aging presents preliminary COA building drawings; staff recognized for years of service

Courtney Ziny, Executive Director of the Commission on Aging, presented preliminary drawings for a proposed COA building at the Barry County Board of Commissioners meeting on Sept. 26, 2023.
Commissioners commended the project. Commissioner Bob Teunessen and Commissioner David Hatfield specifically praised the work of Ziny and Becky DeHaan on the COA project. Commissioner Mark Doster suggested considering metal roofing for the new building. Chair David Jackson asked whether the area outlined on the drawings labeled Harvest Pointe would serve both Harvest Point and Thornapple Manor; Becky DeHaan said the design would serve the entire county with easy access at the north door.
During presentations, Chair Jackson and Stephanie Lehman presented employee service awards: Erica Krouse received a five-year award for service with Central Dispatch and Christina Nevins received a 10-year award at Central Dispatch. The minutes note that Rich Frazer will receive a 10-year award from the sheriff’s department but was absent from the meeting.
