Selectboard hears update on wharf damage, unpaid ramp bill and barge-company dispute

Norman Bamford and the Sullivan Selectboard on Aug. 5 heard updates about damage to the town wharf and an unpaid ramp-repair bill, and were told a barge company has filed a lawsuit against the town.
Town Manager Ray Weintraub told the board that the office recently received an overdue bill from Donny Tozier for work performed at the town wharf. Weintraub said the Harbor Master will approach Mr. Tozier to get an estimate for the work now needed at the wharf and to clarify the outstanding bill. "No bids had been submitted at of 5pm 8-5-25" for separate road-repair work, he said when describing procurement timelines.
Graham Platner updated the Selectboard on damage he said was caused by a marine transport company at the town wharf and reported the company had promised to compensate the town for use of the ramp and for damage caused by that use. Separately, Weintraub reported that the barge company that had been operating to Iron Bound Island disrupted lobster traps belonging to several lobstermen, ultimately moved its operations to another town, and has since filed a lawsuit against Sullivan.
The board did not take an immediate final decision on payment or repair work at the meeting. The Harbor Master was directed to obtain an estimate for the necessary repairs and staff will review the outstanding invoice and options for remediation or recovery of costs. The Selectboard did not record formal action to accept or reject the invoice at the Aug. 5 meeting.
