After debating alternatives, members moved to split the purchase funding 50/50 between the town's water and sewer funds; the motion was seconded and approved pending final paperwork and signature.
These motions were part of a meeting that also included routine approvals of minutes, receipts, claims and the financial statement. Council members said they would not draw down more than necessary and would monitor unrestricted balances to handle unexpected needs.
The council left other proposals—such as revising bulk-pickup fees and brush/leaf collection rules—for later staff work and did not adopt new solid-waste ordinance language at the meeting. The procurement and personnel motions, and the funding decision for the acreage purchase, were recorded as formal actions and will be reflected in the minutes and contract paperwork.
The council adjourned after scheduling a redevelopment/TIF follow-up meeting for the first Wednesday of next month.
