Poseyville council hires Kahn, Dees, Donovan & Kahn attorney for economic development work

Council President Justin Rutledge presented two proposals for the council’s consideration: Conner Voegel of Stoll, Keenon Ogden, PLLC, who proposed a $250 per hour rate but has a conflict that would require an advance waiver; and G. Michael Schopmeyer of Kahn, Dees, Donovan & Kahn, LLP, who proposed a $265 per hour rate with a billing threshold not to exceed an increment of $15,000 and additional rates for specified services. The presentation also noted a technical issue with the meeting camera; the session proceeded on audio only.
After discussion, Council Member Michael Baehl moved to accept the proposal from G. Michael Schopmeyer; Council Member Randall Rankin seconded the motion. A roll-call vote recorded Council President Justin Rutledge, Council Member Michael Baehl and Council Member Randall Rankin voting in favor; the motion passed unanimously.
The council also scheduled its next meeting for Nov. 13, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. with a motion by Council Member Michael Baehl and second by Council Member Randall Rankin. With no further business the council adjourned at 4:10 p.m.
The action authorizes town staff to proceed with contracting steps consistent with the selected proposal; specific contract terms and any required waivers were not detailed in the meeting minutes.
