Poseyville council approves routine business, two SRF disbursements, insurance changes and Boyce banking features

The Poseyville Town Council on Oct. 8 approved routine municipal business and several financial items, including two SRF disbursement requests tied to the town’s Water Treatment Facility.
Clerk-Treasurer B. Jodie Rankin presented Form 3 and read the record for the 2025 Budget public hearing; Council Member Mike Baehl opened the hearing at 5:36 p.m. and closed it at 5:45 p.m. after hearing no public comment.
The council approved meeting minutes from Sept. 10 and Sept. 17, the Claims Docket, the Payroll Allowance Docket, and the September bank reconciliation. The council also approved two SRF disbursement requests: Huntington Machine Works for $97,160 and Midwestern Engineers, Inc. for $55,298; both motions passed by roll-call vote with Council Members Mike Baehl and Randy Rankin voting yes.
Clerk-Treasurer Rankin said the town received a property-casualty renewal showing a 16% increase in rates and asked permission to raise the property and automobile deductibles to mitigate the increase; the motion to raise deductibles passed by roll call. Rankin also sought approval to add two Boyce office features—automatic posting of customer ACH payments and Positive Pay processing—to aid bank fraud prevention. Each feature carries a one-time implementation fee of $600; the council approved both for a total one-time fee of $1,200.
Police Officer Marshall Carter updated the council that the department’s trailer from Nix Industrial is nearly complete; a GPS tracker has been ordered and the clerk-treasurer will add the trailer to town insurance at a value of $8,000. Carter also announced trick-or-treat hours of 5:00–8:00 p.m. and a post-event 'Hide and Seek from the Police' starting at 9:00 p.m., with sign-ups at 8:00 p.m. and waivers required.
Theresa Bratcher, Heart of Poseyville Committee Chair, announced an Oct. 27 community event at the Poseyville Community Center (soup cook-off and Relay For Life bake sale) and said the street between the Community Center and Fletchall Street will be closed for the event.
The council scheduled the 2025 Budget Adoption meeting for Oct. 22, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. and set the next regular meeting for Nov. 13, 2024. The meeting adjourned at 6:25 p.m.
