Mr. DeBlasio delivered the public works report, listing several capital projects in closeout and others in design.
He said the Bayside bulkhead replacement and flood‑mitigation projects, Bayview Drive reconstruction and the Centennial Park improvements are in the punch-list or project closeout phase. The fiscal‑year 2025 NJIBank sanitary‑sewer and roadway improvement project and New Jersey Avenue sanitary‑sewer and water‑main improvements are ongoing; the New Jersey Avenue construction is expected to finish within about a week. Mr. DeBlasio said a pre-construction meeting is scheduled for June 18 for the DCA fiscal‑year 2024 Crest Pier bathroom improvement project, and design work is underway for the Crest fishing‑pier reconstruction with plans to bid the project within the next month.
Mr. DeBlasio also reported that staff filed a Fiscal Year 2027 DOT municipal‑aid grant application for reconstruction of Denver Avenue from New Jersey Avenue to Pacific Avenue, noting that will dovetail with the FY 2026 project to create back‑to‑back improvements on the same street. "We filed the fiscal year 2027 DOT municipal aid reconstruction of Denver Avenue from New Jersey Avenue to Pacific Avenue," he stated. Commissioners raised no questions.
Next steps: engineering and bidding schedules will depend on NJDOT and grant outcomes; a pre-construction meeting for the Crest Pier restroom project is planned for June 18.
