Timberlake council accepts police chief’s resignation, appoints Nick Dolbin and approves numerous police hires

The Village of Timberlake council on Nov. 21 accepted the resignation and retirement of Police Chief Sue Scofield and unanimously approved a slate of resolutions appointing Nick Dolbin as the new chief and hiring multiple part-time and special patrol officers.
Council voted to accept Chief Scofield’s resignation after Mayor Nancy Marra read the letter. Councilmember Cynthia Hardwick moved to accept the resignation and Councilmember Jerry Joyce seconded; all members voted in favor.
Minutes and council action then focused on personnel. By emergency resolutions and unanimous roll-call votes, the council approved Resolution No. 2024-33 confirming Nick Dolbin as Chief of Police and suspended the three-reading rule for that measure. Councilmember Jerry Joyce said Dolbin “will be a very good addition as Chief, he knows the Village and wholeheartedly recommends him for the position.” The mayor administered the oath of office to Chief Dolbin at the meeting.
The council also used suspended three-reading rules to approve a series of hiring resolutions for the Timberlake Village Police Department. Each resolution passed by unanimous roll call. The approved hires and the corresponding resolutions were: David Clarich (Res. 2024-34, part-time patrolman); Alecia Nagy (Res. 2024-35, part-time patrolman); Joseph Christopher (Res. 2024-36, part-time patrolman); James Simone (Res. 2024-37, part-time sergeant); Brandon Lawrence (Res. 2024-38, part-time patrolman); John Jacobsen (Res. 2024-39, part-time patrolman); Mikayla Dolbin (Res. 2024-40, special patrolman); Richard Schilling (Res. 2024-41, special patrolman); Michael Wright (Res. 2024-42, part-time captain); Fred Beverly (Res. 2024-43, part-time patrolman); Jason Anderson (Res. 2024-44, part-time patrolman); Zach Thomas (Res. 2024-45, part-time patrolman); Shalan Satterwhite (Res. 2024-46, part-time patrolman); Dwayne Dalton-Webb (Res. 2024-47, part-time patrolman); Nakia Ward (Res. 2024-48, part-time patrolman); Joshua Fruth (Res. 2024-49, special patrolman); and Ricardo Blanco (Res. 2024-50, part-time patrolman).
Chief Dolbin provided brief background remarks about the new hires before roll calls for individual resolutions. Councilmember Ryan Konrad spoke during the meeting about community-oriented policing and thanked Dolbin and the new members for their commitment to the village.
The meeting adjourned at 7:56 PM on a motion by Ryan Konrad, seconded by Jerry Joyce. After adjournment Chief Dolbin thanked the new officers for coming aboard and acknowledged a gift from Debbie King; Sergeant James Simone opened the gift.
