At the Sept. 17 meeting Ryan Konrad presented data from the village speed sign showing roughly 16,719 westbound vehicles in one month and provided a speed-band breakdown: 577 vehicles recorded at 41–45 mph, 23 at 46–50 mph, 12 at 51–55 mph and 2 at 56–60 mph. He said most vehicles travel below 25 mph and suggested compiling two months of data to complete a dashboard for the Safety Committee.
Konrad said the sign tracks time-of-day and noted software-license timing; an editor’s note in the minutes clarifies the subscription expires in April 2025, not October. He discussed enforcement options including radar patrols and mentioned an opportunity to coordinate with Eastlake’s incoming police chief; he also stated he is personally opposed to speed cameras, citing concern they place an undue burden on the court system.
Konrad asked for a Safety Committee meeting to further review the data and possible enforcement steps; the minutes show the Safety Committee will meet on Oct. 22 at 6:00 p.m. Council and staff also noted the potential to change messages on the sign and to present a dashboard summarizing trends after collecting more data.
