Town Attorney Mr. Peelle told the council the attorney for Danny Barton indicated Barton’s client will bring 624 West Payton Street into compliance and that cleanup would start when weather improves. Mr. Peelle said he will wait two weeks to see visible cleanup before initiating enforcement or fines. The council did not take formal action on the property during the meeting.
At a later update, Attorney T.J. Rethlake reported that the owner or occupant tied to 119–121 North Meridian Street, Mr. Hinesley, had contracted with Hayes Brothers Construction and that Seth Hayes — the company contact originally handling the work — recently died. Rethlake said Hinesley is now dealing with Larry Hayes, which may affect the schedule for repairs or remediation.
The council’s discussion recorded timelines for possible enforcement but did not include a vote to initiate fines; Mr. Peelle’s statement established a two-week monitoring period before next steps.
