The applicant provided two composite slate samples and two color options. Board members compared the options and several said the darker of the two samples was the closest match to the existing roof. Members discussed visibility from the street and the historic patterning; the applicant’s roofer indicated he would use a beaver-tail shingle pattern where appropriate.
A motion to approve the selected materials and to require beaver-tail shingles on the front elevation carried on a voice vote.
Next steps: the applicant expects to begin the project within a few months; staff will track permitting and installation details.
