Council opens CCMG 2023-2 bids and holds action pending state contract

The Sweetser Town Council opened bids for the CCMG 2023-2 project at its Dec. 14 meeting and voted to take the proposals under advisement until a signed contract is returned by the State of Indiana.
Bids received were Brooks Construction at $184,615.00; E & B Paving at $187,318.50; and Gaunt & Son Asphalt at $194,752.25. Mitch Hansel of USI Consultants reported all bids were below the grant amount of $203,500 but recommended the council take the bids under advisement because the town had not yet received a signed state contract.
After discussion, Chuck Briede moved to take the three bids under advisement until receipt of the signed state contract; the motion passed with recorded ayes from Charles Myers, Matt Stewart, Travis LeMaster and Chuck Briede, with Kyle Taylor absent. No contract award or contractor selection was made at the meeting.
The council will revisit the bids once the town receives the contract from the State and has confirmed the project scope with final survey mapping.
