Police report shows call volume; sidewalk project may run over budget, INDOT funds noted

Marshal Ryan Hornback told the council the department handled 463 calls in September and 3,254 calls year-to-date, and summarized the nature of suspicious-vehicle activity reported in August and September. Hornback said both batteries in the 2020 Tahoe are beginning to fail. He reported he completed BOLA Wrap training and submitted a sample BOLA Wrap policy for the department to review and adopt, and requested Microsoft Office for his department computer.
Operations Manager Patrick Kendall reported that the Sidewalk Project is on schedule but may be running over its project budget; he said there may be an option for additional assistance from the State. RMA engineer Jocques Plothow told the council the HSIP package and estimate would be submitted on Oct. 11, 2024, and reminded the council the CCMG 2025-1 call for projects opens Jan. 2, 2025. The clerk reported receipt and deposit of an INDOT CCMG-2 distribution into the Federated Hermes account.
American Pump serviced the Short Street lift station pump and maintenance staff continue to obtain quotes for damaged lids at Kelly and Short street lift stations. The council discussed Gator tires and a possible full-set quote from Best One, and Warren Dailey noted Ed's 2011 GMC needs an ABS brake module (the council later approved that replacement).
The council asked staff to continue collecting vendor quotes and to report back with cost information as needed.
