The Chair of the Wabash City Board of Park and Recreation said crews laid asphalt on the city's tennis courts today and officials expect most of the work to be finished by next week.
The update came during a meeting called to order without a quorum; the Chair said the board would not take votes but would review agenda items for discussion. The resurfacing work includes surfacing, followed by installation of fencing around the courts.
"They're putting down the asphalt today. Hopefully will basically wrap up everything by next week," the Chair said, adding that the fencing crew will install protective fences once surfacing is complete. The Chair also said the local tennis company will hold the board's tennis posts and nets at its facilities until next spring, when crews return to finish remaining surfacing and install equipment.
Board members had no additional questions about the project during the meeting. Because the meeting lacked a quorum, no formal approvals or contract votes were taken.
The board did not set new dates for work beyond the expected next-week completion. The Chair said the group will report developments at a future meeting or when substantive changes occur.
