Chief Lam said the village maintains a primary and a reserve ambulance to ensure uninterrupted advanced-life-support coverage. The reserve vehicle is a 2008 unit and the current primary unit was a 2017 purchase. The estimated price for a custom-conversion 2028 Ford F-550 4x4 ambulance is about $399,388, a roughly 71% increase from the prior purchase price cited by staff. Chief Lam said the vendor has offered a 7.7% discount if the village prepays to secure delivery in approximately two-and-a-half to three years; staff noted both the discount opportunity and the uncertainty about future interest rates and delivery timing.
Staff said municipal cooperative procurement and collective bidding channels were used to identify the vendor and price, and that long manufacturing and outfitting lead times continue to be an industrywide challenge. Chief Lam said staff intends to present an approval item for the ambulance purchase at the next meeting and asked the committee whether it wanted additional information prior to a board action.
