Multiple residents brought zoning, permitting and downtown-façade issues to the Veedersburg Town Council during the public-comment portion of the meeting.
A property owner asked whether a commercially zoned parcel could be converted to residential use. Council members explained that rezoning requires a formal application, review by the zoning administrator or appeals board, and a decision through the official process; the council said staff would place the item on an appropriate agenda after the zoning administrator is involved.
A separate speaker identified as a doctor said no approvals were in place and that required water-sampling paperwork and county perk tests for septic systems were not completed; the speaker said the town attorney, Stu, had instructed staff that the paperwork must be received before any action could proceed. The chair confirmed that the town attorney would review the documentation and that additional steps were required before the town could approve proposed work.
Councilmember Mike updated the public on the downtown TIF façade grant program, saying applications have been distributed to downtown business owners. He described a 50/50 matching program of up to $5,000 per project to help pay for façade repairs, window replacement, awnings and similar improvements, and urged staff and council to promote the program to secure initial participants.
Council and staff agreed to follow up with property owners and the town attorney to determine next steps on rezoning and permitting matters.
