Veedersburg council approves routine bills, OKs department phones and internship paperwork

The Veedersburg Town Council approved minutes and routine bills and authorized the purchase of department phones for town staff during its regular meeting.

Council leadership opened the meeting by asking for a motion to approve last meeting’s minutes and to pay the previous month’s bills; members moved, seconded and the chair called the items approved. The council then addressed late claims, including a repair claim listed to a vendor named Andy Moore related to the bucket truck and a $735 claim for overhead doors; motions to pay those claims were approved.

Public-works staff member Jess reported ongoing street work on North Mill Street, North Sherman and several alleys, replacement of a pipe on the north end of College Street, multiple service-line replacements at addresses on West Washington and North Walner Street, and installation of new pumps at a central lift station. Staff also reported a sensor on a small bucket truck had been repaired.

Council discussed staff using personal phones for work-related calls and moved to provide department phones now rather than waiting until next year; the motion passed. The chair also confirmed that the internship interlocal agreement with the school board has been signed by the board and requires only council signatures to move forward.

The meeting adjourned after public comment and additional routine items were addressed.
