Veedersburg hears public-works update on sewer work, hydro flushing and solar tie-in

Veedersburg council members heard a routine report from public-works staff about street and utility maintenance, drainage work and a planned solar connection. Jesse, the town maintenance staff member, told the council crews completed pole patching and associated dirt work, finished hydro flushing and reopened the municipal pools after chemical treatment.
Jesse said a bioac basin excavation is finished and that sewer repairs are underway on South Hill Street, with tree trimming and truck testing also completed. He said Indiana Municipal Power Agency (IMPA) is coordinating a solar tie-in and switch-gear splice that “might go on by the end of the month.”
Council members pressed for coordination between drainage repairs and planned road work after residents flagged water gushes near the old grocery store. Members emphasized that drainage should be done before any repaving or additional work to avoid re-excavation and added that staff should include that location in scheduling.
On funding, Jesse advised the town that INDOT will not accept Community Crossings applications in July and that the next call-in could be in the fall; HWC urged the council to proceed now to have the project shovel-ready for that call. The council agreed to advance the HWC-prepared package so the town can apply if funding opens.
No formal vote was required; the updates were accepted as information and staff were directed to return with any contract or scheduling details if changes occur.
