The Topeka Town Council on July 22 approved its June 24 meeting minutes and recorded that four parcels by East Park (Pleasant & Amish Alley) are not available for acquisition.
During roll call Clerk-Treasurer Lea Parks noted present council members and outside attendees, including Town Attorney Bill Eberhard appearing via Zoom and representatives identified as Stewart Bender, Cyndi Sadewasser, Casey Erwin of DLZ, and Jeff Rowe of Baker Tilly. The council then approved the prior meeting's minutes on a motion from Justin Geigley, seconded by Steve Schrock, with the minutes recorded as adopted by 'All Ayes.'
Council President Adam Lambright reported that owners of four parcels adjacent to East Park indicated they were not interested in selling; the council recorded that no acquisition would proceed based on the owners' positions. No formal motion to pursue acquisition was made during the meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:34 p.m. by Council President Adam Lambright. The next park council meeting is scheduled for Aug. 26, 2024, to be held after the council meeting.
