Boone County EDC outlines housing, workforce and small-business priorities to Thorntown council

Andrea Kern, CEO of the Boone County Economic Development Corporation, presented the EDC’s 2025 accomplishments and priorities to the Thorntown Town Council.
Kern said the EDC completed the 180 in Color murals and the 180 Makeover storefront projects and awarded microloans to two small businesses. For 2026, the EDC’s priorities include increasing housing stock (including mixed-use and higher-density options), expanding workforce supports such as childcare, conducting municipality-level retail gap analyses with IU’s O'Neill School, and continuing business engagement to retain and grow local employers.
