Staff told the commission the shelter — described in the staff report as a roofed structure over existing impervious area in an I (industrial) zoning district — will not increase the site’s impervious coverage or change stormwater requirements. The presentation noted the structure’s roughly 30‑foot height was not expected to conflict with aviation constraints, and staff said gutters and roof runoff will be directed to existing retention ponds.
Commissioners asked whether the structure would be used for maintenance vehicles and heavy equipment; staff answered the shelter is intended for city vehicles and machinery, not private cars or general parking. The public works director was present to respond to technical questions about drainage and FAA review.
After questions, a commissioner moved to approve the site plan. The motion passed on a roll‑call vote recorded in the minutes with all voting members in favor.
The approval is a site‑plan decision; any subsequent detailed construction permits, building elevations and drainage calculations will come through standard permitting and inspection processes.
