Council reviews storm-damage permits, awaits EPA testing meeting and considers joining local RDA/TDD

Council member Phil Orlando advised residents to inspect roofs after recent storms and the council recorded several building permits for roof and siding work at named properties. Phil and Janice Lowe said they are still trying to arrange a meeting with the town attorney to address outstanding legal questions.
Under old business the council said it is still waiting for the Environmental Protection Agency to complete re-testing; James Prast cautioned residents to verify that any contractors fully restore properties. A public meeting on the EPA testing is scheduled for July 18 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Westchester Library.
Councilors also discussed drafting a letter to join the area's Redevelopment Authority (RDA) and the creation of a Tax Increment District (TDD) to support growth and address town needs. James asked council members to review prior opioid-related funding and report back on its uses.
No ordinances or formal decisions to join the RDA or create a TDD were adopted at the meeting; the council agreed to pursue further legal consultation and to continue coordinating with the EPA and other agencies.
