Thorntown council discusses soliciting mowing bids and fills BZA seat

During new business on Feb. 2, the Town of Thorntown Council directed staff to prepare requests for proposals for lawn and park mowing and to include the trail and fire department sites in the scope. Council Member Randy Bruder initiated the discussion by asking when to solicit mowing bids; the council agreed to have proposals available for review by the last meeting in March.
Municipal consultant Jeff Wolfe offered to prepare maps that show acreage to help the town scope and price work, and council members noted the County Maintenance Department currently handles mowing on the trail north of town and could be consulted about continuing that service. The council discussed whether to include the trail, park and fire department properties in a single contract.
The council also announced a vacancy on the Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) and said Nancy Durkin will serve as one of the members. The council did not take other formal actions on the item.
