Thorntown holds first reading of Sewer Use Ordinance amendment, legal counsel to prepare comparison for public hearing

The Town of Thorntown conducted the first reading of Ordinance 2026-01 on Feb. 2, an amendment to the town's Sewer Use Ordinance. Amy Nooning, the town's legal counsel, read the ordinance aloud during the meeting and said a public hearing will explain the changes and the reasons IDEM recommended them.
Nooning offered to prepare a comparison document that will show exactly what text changed between the current ordinance and the proposed amendment to help council members and the public review the revisions ahead of the hearing. She said the comparison will be provided at the public hearing so attendees can follow the specific edits and the IDEM suggestions.
The council did not take final action on the ordinance at the Feb. 2 meeting; the item stands at first reading and is scheduled for the upcoming public hearing and subsequent council consideration. No vote was recorded on the ordinance at this meeting.
