Topeka council approves CF-1 abatements for Freedom Finish Works and Freedom Steel Works; denies S&H Metal/122 Redman Drive

At its June 24 meeting the Topeka Town Council reviewed tax abatement CF-1 filings and took a series of votes.
Council members found the CF-1/Real Property filing for Freedom Finish Works at 2295 W Lake Street to be in compliance and approved the abatement resolution on a motion by Ray Folk, seconded by Steve Schrock (vote: All Ayes). The CF-1/Real Property for Freedom Steel Works at the same address also complied and was approved on a motion by Ray Folk, seconded by Justin Geigley (vote: All Ayes).
By contrast, the council recommended denial for the CF-1/Real Property tied to S&H Metal / Freedom Steel Works at 122 Redman Drive because the business had vacated that building in 2021; the motion to deny carried (mover Steve Schrock, second Justin Geigley; vote: All Ayes). Council recorded that any abatement previously granted for 122 Redman Drive will need to be offset against abatements granted for 2295 W Lake Street.
The council also approved a CF-1 for personal property related to a conveyor and powder-coating system on a motion by Marlynn Mast (vote: All Ayes).
