UW students, prevention coalition and Sno-Isle Library brief council on hazard mitigation and summer programs

University of Washington graduate students presented a Hazard Mitigation Plan to the Granite Falls City Council on June 3, walking through a risk assessment, community engagement results and proposed hazard mitigation strategies tailored to the city. The presentation was informational and aimed at shaping future resilience planning.
Jared Pierce, coordinator for the Granite Falls Prevention Coalition, described the Community Prevention and Wellness Initiative (CPWI) and how the coalition’s programs support prevention and wellness efforts in the community. Jannah Minnix of Sno-Isle Library outlined the library’s summer program schedule and outreach activities planned for families and youth.
The presentations were delivered as part of new business and generated no formal council action during the meeting; council received the information for future consideration and partnership opportunities.
