Union City council defers parking ordinance and zoning changes pending solicitor review

The Union City Borough Council discussed proposed amendments to the parking ordinance and zoning code on June 25 but did not act, opting to wait for the borough solicitor.
Police Chief David Pernice described how license plate readers (LPRs) can search plate data and assist investigations, noting LPR video/search capabilities and recommending the council review Lot #2 layout before changing front-end parking to angled spaces. Council asked Streets Supervisor Bob Phillips to review the proposed layout and return with recommendations.
Separately, councilors briefly discussed potential changes to the zoning ordinance to regulate small games of chance and to allow pools on vacant adjoining lots. Council decided those zoning amendments should be taken up at the next meeting when the solicitor is present to provide legal guidance.
No motions were made on either item during the meeting; both were deferred pending solicitor input.
