Authority directs staff to contact ModWash over sewer capacity shortfall and to coordinate fit-out reviews with township

During the Oct. 15 meeting the board discussed a shortfall in sewer capacity at the ModWash car wash on Carlisle Pike.
James Stevens, Authority manager, told the board no response had been received from the facility owner about purchasing additional sewer capacity. The board directed Stevens to contact the owners and establish a timetable for resolving the capacity shortfall.
Chairman David Weihbrecht raised the broader concern that the Authority should receive advance notice of redevelopment or fit-outs so staff can confirm that the sewer capacity owned for an existing facility is adequate for any new use. Member Darrell McMillan directed Stevens to coordinate with the township Community Development department to develop a process that ensures fit-out and redevelopment requests are communicated to the Authority for capacity review before occupancy permits are issued.
Stevens said staff had reviewed capacity usages for car washes, dealerships and food-and-drink establishments, citing the ModWash review as the catalyst for the broader check. The board did not take formal enforcement action at the meeting; it instructed staff to open communications with the ModWash owner and to develop an internal coordination process with the township.
