Hobart Plan Commission approves one-lot subdivision, tables multiple petitions

The City of Hobart Plan Commission on Jan. 6 approved final plat approval for a one-lot subdivision at 126 N. Hobart Road and tabled multiple other petitions during a meeting that ran from 6:30 p.m. to 6:35 p.m.
Maria Galka, president of the Plan Commission, called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and recorded nine members and city staff in attendance. After a brief roll call, the commission unanimously approved the minutes of Dec. 4, 2025, and voted to retain the existing officers: Maria Galka as president, Dave Vinzant as vice-president and Mark Kara as secretary.
The commission considered Petition 24-05, a proposed one-lot subdivision at 126 N. Hobart Road (JRS Spot Subdivision). Rich Piazza of engineering firm Krull Abonmarche appeared on behalf of the petitioners to request final plat approval. The commission granted final plat approval contingent on the city engineer reviewing the mylars for accuracy before signing. The motion to grant final plat approval was moved by Plan Commission member Stuart Allen, seconded by Mark Kara, and passed unanimously, 9-0.
At the start of the meeting, Commissioner Mark Kara requested that Petitions 23-12 (Hickory Hollow), 25-16 (Winter's Resubdivision of Part of Block 2, Grand View Addition), 25-30A (Harbor Club Estates) and 25-38 (RaceTrac Plat of Subdivision) be tabled. The agenda was approved as amended and those petitions remained tabled at acceptance of the agenda.
No consultation items or public discussion were recorded. The commission moved to adjourn at 6:35 p.m.; the motion carried 9-0.
