ARB hears updates on Hamlet project, US 62 focus-area plan, school sites and fire station
Summary
Staff updated the board on local projects: tree removal and initial work at the Hamlet project, imminent demolition at the Marsha project, an upcoming US 62 focus-area/form-based-code plan to review next month, the bus garage site search, an elementary school review expected in coming months, and a fire station site moving forward.
During other business the New Albany Architecture Review Board received several staff updates on local development and infrastructure projects.
Staff reported that the Hamlet project has started site work and that many trees were removed in March to meet Indiana back requirements; the Marsha project has started and the building there is scheduled to come down within about 30 days. Staff said the US 62 interchange focus-area plan is progressing and will likely be presented to the ARB next month; the plan is being steered toward a form-based-code approach to guide development in the area behind Schutz gas station and extending toward the Bob Evans building and adjacent undeveloped land.
Staff also said the previously proposed bus garage at the 605 site is not happening and that alternate sites are being explored. The elementary school building review is underway with Ramza and is expected before the board in the coming months. The board was told the fire station continues to move forward at the identified site.
The meeting closed with a motion to adjourn that passed unanimously.
